In addition, notice of school cancellation will be given on the early news radio broadcasts of WGCH (1490 AM Greenwich), WSTC (1400 AM-Stamford), WKHL (96.7 FM-Stamford), WFAS (1230 AM-White Plains), WVIP (1310 AM-Mt. Kisco), WVOX (1460 AM-New Rochelle) and WINS (1010 AM-New York). Connecticut News 30 Snow Alert on television channels 4 and 30 will include Greenwich Academy. There also will be a recorded message on the Academy's school closing hotline -- 203.552.4451. The main school number will not necessarily have closing/delay information, so parents are advised to call the hotline number 203.552.4451. When public schools are closed because of inclement weather, school buses will not run, and Greenwich Academy will close.
At times there may be a delayed school opening. If the decision is made to delay school opening by one hour, all Academy groups, including pre-school groups, will attend a shortened session. All groups will be dismissed at the regular time.
If the decision is made, Monday through Thursday, to delay opening by two hours, all students will report. On Fridays, all Lower and Middle School classes will be canceled, but Upper School classes will take place, and students will be dismissed at the regular time.
In the event that inclement weather requires that school closes early, a telephone chain will alert all families in the Lower School. On the occasion of early dismissal, Lower School students will be dismissed at the Lower School pagoda. Middle School students will be dismissed at the Upper School circle. Lower School students in Groups CC through II with siblings in the Middle or Upper School will wait in the Lower School Library for pick up by their older sisters. Lower School students in Groups III and IV with siblings in the Middle or Upper School will wait in the Upper School Library for pick up by their older sisters.
